Eureka! Classics | The Western Front

The infamous filling ground between the Swiss border and the English Channel was as immovable at the end of 1916 as it had been almost since the beginning of The Great War. Despite mounting losses, neither side ever gained more than 5 to 10 kilometres of territorial advantage.

The pressure was on the American President Wilson to come to the aid of the Allies, but both he and the majority of Americans were reluctant… until, the Germans embarked on an unrestricted submarine war, torpedoing American ships in the Atlantic.

The USA declared war on 6th April, 1917.

The Yanks are Coming reflects the harsh historical and human realities of the war on the Western Front and is a testament to the horrors the young American ‘doughboys’ had to face alongside their more hardened and war-weary European comrades.
