Faust Out Now
June sees our long-awaited special edition 2-disc set of F. W. Murnau’s Faust. Showcasing the astonishing new Domestic print of the film on disc one (previously unseen in the UK), it features a lovely new solo harp score by Stan Ambrose (in addition to the lush Timothy Brock orchestral score), and a full-length audio commentary by David Ehrenstein and Bill Krohn. Disc two features the previously released Export version of Faust (ie. the old Eureka version) consisting of almost entirely different takes, and adds a new 38-minute video piece by Tony Rayns, and a new 28-minute video comparison of the two versions. Topped off with a 28-page booklet featuring two new essays by Peter Spooner and R. Dixon Smith, and a host of production stills, we are very proud to be releasing this edition to celebrate the 80th anniversary of one of the finest and most influential silent films of all time.
July’s a slow month: holidays, and the World Cup, so we’re going to skip July and return in August with Funeral Parade of Roses and Fantastic Planet. We’ll be updating the site with news bursts more regularly than before so have a lovely Summer, try and check out our 30+ back catalogue titles if you haven’t already, and we’ll see you soon! Buster Keaton and Mikio Naruse boxsets will be released this year.
