Recent releases: Dreyer, Franju, and Pialat
Since releasing Bruno Dumont’s debut feature film La vie de Jésus in June, we’ve been very busy with a number of ramjammed editions of films by Carl Th. Dreyer, Georges Franju, and Maurice Pialat.
In August we released Dreyer’s Vampyr featuring a brand-new transfer of the best available film restoration, two commentary tracks (one by Tony Rayns, and the second by Guillermo del Toro), three documentaries, and deleted scenes — together with an exhaustive 80-page book. Also that month, we released a highly anticipated twinpack of Louis Feuillade-related Georges Franju films Judex & Nuits Rouges.
September was Maurice Pialat month, and saw two double-disc special editions: firstly of his 1968 debut L’Enfance-nue and also his 1985 classic Police — both loaded with extra features and containing 40-page booklets. Please click the links for full details.
November sees our first Blu-ray release — Johnnie To and Wai Ka Fai’s Mad Detective (also released on DVD), please see our dedicated website at maddetective.com for trailer, photos, and much more information…
Also coming in November: Marcel L’Herbier’s incredible L’Argent.
