Billy Wilder's THE PRIVATE LIFE OF SHERLOCK HOLMES heads up the January 2018 Line Up

Eureka’s January 2018 release schedule has been confirmed today, and is set to include a new entry to The Masters of Cinema Series and two additions to the Montage Pictures range of World Cinema releases.

Considered by many Holmesians to be the best Sherlock Holmes movie ever made, Billy Wilder’s The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes is both an affectionate parody, and a brilliant, melancholy celebration of Arthur Conan Doyle’s infamous detective.  Co-written by Wilder and I. A. L. Diamond and starring the late great Christopher Lee as Sherlock’s brother Mycroft, The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes is one of the most underrated films in Billy Wilder’s filmography, and is set to be released as part of The Masters of Cinema Series on Blu-ray for the first time in the UK on 22 January 2018. After receiving much acclaim for his screenplays for both Kim Jee-woon’s I Saw the Devil and Ryoo Seung-wan’s The UnjustPark Hoon-jung made the transition to directing and with New World, established himself as one of South Korea’s finest directors. Highly praised upon release as one of the finest gangster films for many years, New World is a slick, edge-of-your seat thriller, and is not to be missed.  New World is set to screen as part of the Korean Film Festival in late October / November at venues in London, Glasgow, Sheffield and Belfast, for further details see here.  New World will then be released as part of the Montage Pictures range, in a Dual Format (Blu-ray & DVD) edition on 15 January 2018. The second feature film from director Attila Till, Kills on Wheels is an inventive, action-packed coming-of-age story of friendship, loyalty and revenge. Inspired by his own experiences working as a volunteer for disabled people, director Attila Till skilfully blends reality with fantasy as he offers a gentle probe into the lives of those who live on the edge of society. Kills on Wheels will also be released as part of the Montage Pictures range, in a Dual Format (Blu-ray & DVD) edition on 15 January 2018. View the Trailer here
