Hou Hsiao-hsien's rich and poignant drama, DAUGHTER OF THE NILE heads up Eureka's May 2017 releases

Our May titles were confirmed today (28 Feb 2017) via Facebook and our Twitter Accounts.

The month is set to kick off, with the previously announced cinematic release (UK & Ireland) of Harmonium on 5 May 2017. From Kôji Fukada, the director of Au Revoir L'Ete and Hospitalité), Harmonium is an off-kilter take on that most venerable of Japanese genres — the family drama, which screened to great acclaim at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival, where it was awarded the Un Certain Regard Jury prize. A few days later on 8 May 2017, Born Free, James Hill’s adaptation of Joy Adamson’s best-selling book starring Virginia McKenna and Bill Travers, will be released on Blu-ray for the first time in the UK in a special Dual-format edition. View the trailer here
 
Following it’s March run in the cinemas [Details here], we have just announced that the home video release of The Olive Tree has been upgraded from a DVD only edition to a Dual Format (Blu-ray & DVD) edition. Icíar Bollaín’s inspirational and poignant story of a vibrant, determined young woman on a journey, will be released in a Dual Format edition on 15 May 2017. View the trailer here
 
Also available from the 15th May 2017, The Entity the ultimate story of supernatural terror starring Academy Award winner Barbara Hershey, will be released in a standard edition Blu-ray.
 
Penultimately, Daughter of the Nile, Hou Hsiao-hsien’s rich and poignant drama about a young woman struggling to support her family amidst the violent and neon-soaked milieu of 1980’s Taipei, will be released in a new 4K restoration as part of the Masters of Cinema Series in a Dual-Format (Blu-ray and DVD) edition on 22 May 2017.
 
The classic BBC TV Series Nanny starring Wendy Craig, will be available for the first time in its entirety in a DVD box set, from 22 May 2017.  Details to follow

And last, but not least, we can also confirm rumours that Death In The Garden, The Luis Buñuel Classic featuring Simone Signoret will be joining the Masters of Cinema Series later this year. Details about its June release, will be revealed very soon...
